Jan-Olof Eklundh, PhD, is professor emeritus of computer science at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. He has been an editorial board member of a number of international journals on mathematical imaging and computer vision. His expertise covers a wide spectrum in computational vision, image processing, behavioural aspects of perception and perceptually guided autonomous systems.

He has been a member of evaluation committees for Copenhagen University, Danish IT University, Inventors For The Digital World, Le Centre national de la recherche scientifique, Chalmers University of Technology, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, the National Science Foundation and the European Commission. Eklundh has chaired and been a co-organizer of several international conferences on computer vision, and has supervised and been main scientific advisor to numerous PhDs.

He is a founding member of the European Vision Institute EEIG, founder of the Computer Vision and Active Perception Laboratory at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and the co-initiator of a national research program at the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. He was dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at KTH from 1994 to 1999, and is a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and The Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters.
