The Canada First Research Excellence Fund’s multidisciplinary review panels ensure that the high international standards of research excellence established for the program are respected. The panels provide detailed evaluations of the relative strengths and weaknesses of applications, based on the related selection criteria, and make observations on the requested budgets. The assessments are shared with the strategic selection board, along with all proposal materials, for further evaluation.
Multidisciplinary review panels are composed of international experts with broad expertise representing a variety of domains and disciplines. These experts have experience in both the senior administration of large research endeavours and the development of world-leading research capabilities.
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Action Plan External Review Committee includes university professors and administrators from across Canada representing various backgrounds and diverse communities. The members of this committee are selected for their expertise in EDI in addition to the broad fields of research related to the funded initiatives.
