Serge Poiraudeau MD, PhD, is professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Université Paris Descartes, and head of the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Hôpital Cochin. He is vice-president of the Société française de médicine physique et de réadaptation, vice-president of the Institut fédératif de recherche sur le handicap (INSERM/CNRS), as well as head of a research team studying the clinical epidemiology of musculoskeletal and rheumatic diseases. His field of expertise is in the clinical epidemiology (clinical trials, disability studies and outcome measures) of different rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. He is also an expert in articular cartilage, osteoarthritis, biomechanics and anthroplasty.

Dr. Poiraudeau has published 182 peer-reviewed articles. He has been a national board member in France for clinical research, and has spoken on the topic of scleroderma (rehabilitation for systemic sclerosis—SSc—patients); on the topic of sciatic at the European League Against Rheumatism (June 2014); and on rehabilitation for rheumatic diseases at the annual Société française de rheumatologie (December 2014).
